Functional Training

"I had been training at a large, chain gym seeing little results using all of their machines.  When I came to The Studio, I was looking for a routine that would challenge my body without taking up all of my time.  I was also hoping to learn some exercise techniques to do at home.  During the first workout, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by how my body felt!  We hardly used any equipment, but, my entire body felt challenged unlike anything I had ever felt doing the other gym's "circuit".  In no time, every part of me was thoroughly exhausted.  Best of all, I have been able to continue at home with very little in the way of equipment.  Awesome workout, great results.  Thank you.

Functional Training programs designed by All Canadian Fitness are unique in that they are designed to not only make you stronger and more fit but they will improve your ability to perform your activities of daily living.  If you come from a training environment that has you relying primarily on machines for your exercise, you will immediately notice a difference.  Your balance, stability and coordination will be challenged from the first workout.  You will learn how to manipulate angles and body positions to move your body through "space" in a more effective way.

"I remember when players just did their lifting on Universal machines.  Now we do a lot more with free weights.  The philosophy around it is like night and day."

-Bill Belichick, Coach of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots

If you live in the real world then functional training is for you.  The demands that everyday life, work and sports put on you and your body are addressed by placing you in an environment where your body must work as a unit.  As you focus on specific muscle groups, your abdominals, hips and lower back muscles will always be working to ensure that you are performing the activities in an efficient, effective and safe way.

The advantage of training with minimal equipment, is that with a little imagination, you can simulate almost any activity and then design an exercise to make you better at it.  Golfers practice their swings while balancing on "wobble boards", new moms practice bending to pick up objects while holding uneven loads to simulate carrying children and older clients can practice balancing and climbing stairs to help prevent falls.  No machines, no matter how sophisticated, can meet these and literally thousands of other demands.
